Our school is ending today, and the last few weeks, I have been working on Claymation and Pivot Stickfigure Animation with my sixth graders. Students get very engaged in animation and the shift of learning really falls on them, as I find I become more of a coach than the person at the front of the room. They discover, they create, they share -- and I just guide them along.
I love that.
Here is a compilation of screenshots from claymation movies (based mostly around a Climate Change theme). I used Animoto to create this collection:

Seen the movie now - further confirmation that it;s better to use a Mac ;o)
My favourite is the colour changing break dancer about halfway through - although the animal human pyramid was amusing too :-D

Hi
Normally, with movie projects, I would have them storyboard the idea, and also use a concept map, but because this was the end of the year and more of an exploration of Pivot, I let them off on their own.
I showed them how to add backgrounds in Pivot, and then how to use MovieMaker, but mostly, they did as they wanted.
Take care
Kevin

What brilliant films! My favourite is the three dancing stick men, mind you the elephant gets up to some interesting things!
How did you organise the class/set up this kind of project? Do you storyboard or just let them get stuck in?

Wow - looks like you had a great time from the Animoto shots. I'll have to come back later to see the films as the video seems to be playing up :o(
